JOHN MANN plays his SELECTION of "NEOPOLITAN MELDODIES"
on the 4/20 Compton/Wurlitzer Organ at COMPTON LODGE SAPCOTE.
On this occasion I have not listed the numbers played - I'll leave that to you! Sorry No Prizes!
John opened the original instrument and was a regular visitor over many years,
always presenting a terrific show to the delight of our audiences.
Compton Lodge was open seven days a week throughout the year
for Coach Parties, with buffet meals included with Fully Licensed Bar including
Draught Beers and Lagers through Watney, Mann & Truman
and comprehensive selection of Spirits and Mixers supplied by Hoyes of Leicester.
Theatre Organ Concerts were presented on at least two Sunday Afternoons
every month 1979 to 2019. 40 Wonderful Musical Years. Star organists included :-
Robinson Cleaver, Ernest Broadbent, John Mann, Ken Stroud, Ena Baga,
Ernest Wrighton-Brown, Doreen Chadwick, Ron Rogers, Stanley Whittington,
John and Doreen Madin, Robert Wolfe, Phil Kelsall and of course Paul Kirner.
We were also featured on National and Local Television and Radio
by ATV Midlands, London Weekend Television, BBC TV, BBC Radio Leicester and many more.
This wonderful instrument, seen and heard in the video, is being installed,
complete with it's Wurlitzer upright "Phantom Piano" (ex-Empress Ballroom, Blackpool)
and Special Melotone Attachment (a replica built by Anthony Meads),
at Paul Kirner's Ainon Music Palace, South Street, Ynyshir in the Rhondda.
