Bar the first, the latter two have been used
extensively throughout history in warfare. Of the two, biological weapons – that is, the killer germs or viruses that can multiply, mutate
and kill entire populations – are considered the most abhorrent. Bio-weapons have generally been taken from nature, although there have been attempts to manufacture them. Chemical weapons fall into four main categories according to which bodily system they
effect: Nerve, Blood, Lung and Skin. Perhaps the most famous use of these weapons was in World War II, when the Nazis killed
thousands of Jews with nerve gas, although the Saran gas attacks in Japan are just as memorable as they are horrifying.
