On our way to the hot camping event, Buzzard Daze, we did a way point stop at Mother Neff State Park. Located on the Leon River just north and west of Temple Texas this is one sweet little Texas State Park!
Mother Neff State Park is/was the very first Texas State Park. The original parcel of land was donated to the state of Texas by Governor Pat Neff's mother. She had very fond memories of many a family and community gatherings under the pecan trees on the banck of the Leon River and wanted the people of Texas to have these same fond memories. Over the years addition land was donated, the CCC set up a camp and many young men built this and other public park projects.
After the bottom land of the park was totally covered by silt in a major flood on the Leon River Texas Parks and Wildlife made the decision to build an all new and modern RV campground on the bluff far removed from the low land flooding.
I really love RV camping at Mother Neff State Park! Join me on this videos and find out why!
