Jean Philippe Rameau (1683-1764) is not only widely acclaimed as a theoretician of music, but also one of the most imaginative composers of his time. His revolutionary operas were the first national creations to rival those of Lully and his works and methods for harpsichord show his immens innovative power. One of the most beautiful instrumental pieces in his opera Naïs is the "Sarabande pour les Bergers", which is here presented in a transcribed version for theorbo by Elias Conrad.
After graduating at the University Mozarteum Salzburg the german guitarist and lute player Elias Conrad continued his lute studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel, Switzerland. He is laureate of numerous international competitions, such as Concorso Maurizio Pratola L‘Aquila (IT), Saarland culture prize (GER), London Young Ensemble Competition (GB), "Rheinsberger Hofkapelle 20/21" (GER) and cultur prize of the city Coburg.
As lutenist he was involved in numerous productions with famous soloists, like Andreas Scholl and renowned ensembles, such as Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, Nordic Symphony Orchestra Estonia, Ensemble Mare Nostrum and his own ensembles Mozaïque, Fabridoen and MokkaBarock. He performed at major festivals, like Oude Muziek Festival Utrecht, MA-festival Bruges, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, Festival Barocco Alessandro Stradella di Viterbo e Nepi and Grandezze e Meraviglie.
