Fatehpur Sikri is located in the Agra district of the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It was built southeast of an artificial lake in the second half of the 16th century by Emperor Akbar. Fatehpur Sikri (City of Victory) was the capital of the Mughal Empire for only 10 years. It was the first city of the Mughals which was marked by magnificent administration, residential and religious buildings consisting of palaces, public buildings, mosques and living areas for the court, army, king's servants and an entire city.
