Former U.S. President Barack Obama warned on Thursday that misinformation is causing a threat to democracy during a symposium on campus at Stanford University's Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies. Obama added that "tech companies need to be more transparent" about their operation and said that social media consumers need to "evaluate sources and separate opinion from fact".
