Daikanyamachō (代官山町, Daikan'yama-chō), or simply Daikanyama (代官山), is a place in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. The neighborhood is known for its small boutique shops, giving it the nickname "the Brooklyn of Tokyo." It is served by Daikan-yama Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line.
The population as of September 30, 2013 was 1,959. ZIP code 150-0034. In recent years, it has become a trendy area for opening boutiques.
There is Daikanyama Station on the Tokyu Toyoko Line in Daikanyama, which is the adjacent station to Shibuya Station, near Ebisu Station. Mainly high-end fashion stores, coffee shops and dessert shops, the same as Aoyama and Omotesando. Daikanyama is located outside the Yamanote Line, away from the bustling areas of the city, resulting in a relatively secluded and quiet atmosphere.
The Daikanyama part is also a quiet residential area that ranks high in surveys of the best living environments. The Hillside Terrace ヒルサイドテラス built in the old Yamate-dori area has opened some distinctive shops, designed by the architect Fumihiko Maki.
