But really, spies are so powerful I feel like I may not have emphasized this enough. If your deck doesn't have spies and your opponent does you're basically throwing all your healers and decoys on getting their spies and playing it back to them.

I hope you didn't get the impression that you can only win with Northern Realms and Nilfgaard though, every single deck is viable. The spy decks are just much easier to play because .. well because of spies.

Also playing Gwent matches to get the footage right I'm pretty sure I took everything the lady of the Seven Cats Inn owned which makes her opening speech incredibly ironic.

In case you don't know where to start with your starting cards, here's the best standard starting deck.

When you get to the inn with Vesemir you first get thrown into a cutscene to talk to the innkeeper. Buy all of her cards (Decoy, Catapult, Blue Stripes Commando, Crinfred Reavers Dragon Hunter and Foltest, Lord Commander of the North)

Choose "Foltest, Lord Commander of the North" as a leader card.

Now go to the Scholar that offers you the first Gwent match. Play him for his Zoltan card (shuffle for Prince Stennis, Dun Banner Medic and your 3 Blue Stripes - use your Leader card to counter Biting Frost to save your Blue Stripes) and replace your Poor Fucking Infantry card for Zoltan Chivay instead.
