Kia Motors has recently unveiled the revamped Picanto, its contemporary compact hatchback. The new model showcases a striking design and integrates cutting-edge technologies that Kia has employed in its broader lineup. The Picanto’s design is influenced by the brand’s ‘Opposites United’ philosophy, which blends contrasting elements to create harmony. There are two variants available - the baseline and the ‘GT-Line’ trim levels. The ‘GT-Line’ in particular merges an elegant exterior with modern technology, making it appealing to young, first-time car owners and professionals.
One of the key selling points of the Picanto is its universal appeal. Sjoerd Knipping, the Vice President Product & Marketing of Kia Europe, mentioned that the Picanto is a perfect fit for urban commuters, professionals, and young adults purchasing their first car. Especially during times when the cost of living is soaring and urban space is at a premium, the Picanto enables its owners to enjoy the freedom and mobility it offers.
The Picanto has been one of Kia's bestsellers worldwide, especially in Europe where it's favored for its compatibility with short journeys and ease in finding parking. The new Picanto boasts an array of standard features including driver assistance systems which make navigating through crowded European cities more convenient and comfortable.
Kia is also facilitating younger and first-time buyers to establish a connection with the brand by offering quality without compromise. The Picanto serves as a symbol of independence and an entry point for making memories. Its compact size and maneuverability, coupled with ample storage space of up to 1,010 liters, make it versatile in an urban environment where multiple mobility options are available.
In terms of design, the Picanto flaunts a bold, futuristic appeal. The front is characterized by a new bumper, Kia’s signature ‘tiger nose’ grille, and a dominant light signature that gives the car an imposing presence. Optional LED headlights and daytime running lights further accentuate its modern aesthetic. The rear of the car is simple but solid, emphasizing vertical connectivity between the redesigned rear lights and bumper. The ‘GT-Line’ gets an aggressive front end with sporty elements and dedicated 16-inch diamond-cut wheels.
Inside, the cabin has various finishes available including black cloth seats as standard, with the option of Glossy Black, Adventurous Green, and Rich Brown finishes. These options are inspired by nature and offer customers the chance to personalize their car interiors. Artificial leather is being used as part of Kia's strategy to make vehicle materials more sustainable.
Under the hood, customers can choose between two engines – a 1.0-litre or a 1.2-litre petrol engine. Both engines are designed to maximize efficiency and minimize CO2 emissions. The engines can be paired with a five-speed manual transmission or Kia’s Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), which combines the fuel efficiency of manual transmission with the convenience of an automatic.
The Picanto comes loaded with technology. An 8.0-inch ‘floating’ touchscreen navigation system and a 4.2-inch digital display in the driver's instrument cluster are standard. The touchscreen supports Bluetooth multi-connection, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Furthermore, the new Picanto is equipped with Kia’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which includes features such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Lane Keeping Assist. In terms of safety, the Picanto is equipped with up to six airbags and features like Hill-start Assist Control. Moreover, Kia’s industry-leading seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty comes as standard.
