Today, we dive into the four ways Omega is going to beat Rolex in 2021!!
1. There must be a problem, and the problem is this - people are simply starting to get fed up with Rolex. Consumers simply are tired of walking into a Rolex authorized dealer and, more or less, being denied service. Oftentimes, if you're even considered for a Rolex, it's only because you've spent thousands of dollars in other inventory from that AD. It's, frankly, disgusting.
2. There's been a culture shift, too. While the culture that Rolex represents is still very much in vogue, society overall is growing less and less uptight and formal, and soon it might well be that the only Rolex worth wearing is one that your grandfather wore that has sentimental value and isn't an embodiment of the "rich bitch" lifestyle.
3. Now let's get into marketing, something Rolex was truly an expert at for decades. But of late, they seem to be relying solely on their own brand name for the cache necessary to sell watches. Credit where it's due, it is certainly working, but is that really enough to carry a brand on in perpetuity? Omega is most certainly not there yet, but they're very focused on a new and innovative kind of storytelling that Rolex feels shut off from.
4. Finally, we have the question of market value and premiums. While Rolex is notorious for their aftermarket premiums and their value retention (they're the only brand you can trade anywhere in the world for water, after all), they're not the only ones. Think about the Speedy Tuesday limited editions from Omega, which sell out in a matter of minutes, if not seconds, and soar in premiums in the aftermarket.
