Here we will be tying the Tubefly Snælda by Grímur Jónsson. The fly has been around for some years and had such a success in salmon fishing in larger rivers like West and East Rangá and other rivers that may have a slightly mirky water in them by and by. The fly is tied in many variations of colours. The body is black as always, but you can play around with the tail colours. It's been common to name the Snælda's by the tail, so for this video we would be tying a German Snælda since the tail colours match with the German flag colours.
Pattern
Author: Grímur Jónsson.
Tube: Aluminum, Brass or plastic from ½ inch up to 1½ inch.
Thread: 8/0 black.
Tail: Black, yellow and orange bucktail.
Rib: Oval silver.
Body: Black wool.
Hackle: Black rooster feather.
Head: Black. (some prefer to add a cone to the tube to make it heavier)
