Browning Golden Eagle Business Band Amplifier Mark 180 older style matches Mark I or Mark II radios. This came to me in a package deal and it blew fuses and would not power on. After opening it up found the power tranny fried and stanky. Had a very fowl smell to it. Also the plate choke was burned and fried too. Hence, I bought a new Torroid transformer off Epay. Little bit higher plate voltages, center tapped, and the correct filament voltages with all the correct currents plus. Also the old electrolytic caps where replaced with 600v caps to handle the extra voltage coming from the new tranny. The wimpy plate choke was replaced with a Z14 heavy duty choke used in amps like the D+A Phantom 500. Last the 2 6JG6 tubes tested bad on the tube tester and where replaced with NOS (new old stock) tubes. 6kv6 tubes have the same pinouts and give more power, but I wanted to stay stock with this little amp and not kill it to get 25-50 more watts out of it. However, with the updated power supply and 200watt continuous rated tranny, it probably could handle it, but I wasn't going to take any chances. Does what its supposed to do. 2 swinging to 20 in gives 20 swinging to 100 out. Works great with no issues or glitches and looks good but certainly not mint or perfect. Has a scratch here and there outsides and the insides look great. Except for the holes where the original tranny was, almost looks mint inside.
