Exterior. M/S of the legs of Ron Brewer and his donkey, Jack walking on paving stones. The narrator introduces "ten year old Jack" with lots of bad puns about "donkey work". M/S of Ron and Jack, now fully visible walking down a suburban street, past a row of small shops. Panning shot following Ron and his donkey into one of the shops.
Interior. Inside the shop, M/S of a teenage boy opening the door. Ron and Jack enter. The narrator explains Jack's "main job is giving children rides" but he is so well liked and respected that "it's literally open house to him everywhere". M/S of a dingy flight of stairs which Ron begins to coax Jack up. Jack is obviously unhappy about this turn of events and struggles. Top shot of Ron pulling with some effort the stubborn donkey up the stairs. According to the narrator Jack has been "specially trained" to climb stairs so he can "visit a young friend ill in bed".
M/S of a sparsely decorated bedroom. Dressed in pyjamas, 10 year old David Leonard/ Lenard is reading a book with his aunt, Mary, who sits at the edge of the bed David is lying in. David is recovering from "a bout of flu" . Ron leads Jack into the room much to the delight of David. C/U of David, his aunt, Ron and Jack. David strokes Jack's nose and feeds him an apple - "the two are great buddies" and David always shares his sweets with the donkey. C/U of Ron and David's aunt smiling fondly. C/U of Jack and David. It was decided the visit "would dispel the usual sick bedroom blues". Jack has worked from "Land's End to John O'Groats" and has been trained "to a peak of remarkable versatility" by Ron. C/U of David picking up sweets to feed to Jack. M/S of the group as Jack eats the sweets. M/S of Ron helping David onto Jack's back. Low angle C/U of David sitting on Jack's back stroking his neck while Ron ruffles David's hair.
