Surrey housewife Sandra (Imelda Staunton) is holding a retirement party for her husband when she discovers he has been having an affair with her best friend behind her back.
Publically humiliated in front of her friends, Sandra travels to London to stay with her estranged bohemian sister Bif (Celia Imrie). Unable to loosen up, stubborn Sandra stays at her sisters’ London flat while Bif goes out swing dancing with her fun loving friends Jackie (Joanna Lumley), Charlie (Timothy Spall) and Ted (David Hayman). Eventually their joie-devivre proves contagious, and Sandra is confronted with a second chance of happiness –but will she take it?
