STORYLINE :
Protestors burned North Korean flags and posters depicting the North Korean leader Kim Jong II during an anti-Pyongyang rally in downtown Seoul on Thursday night.
Some one hundred and fifty people gathered outside City Hall to show their anger, after North Korea said on Monday it had carried out its first-ever nuclear test.
Most of those present were peaceful during the rally, holding candles and waving South Korean flags.
Some demonstrators, however, burned North Korean flags.
Police were quickly on hand to extinguish the flames.
The North's first-ever apparent nuclear test has received strong international criticism and triggered talks of sanctions at the United Nations.
The US and Japan are leading calls for punitive measures.
Japan imposed a total ban on North Korean imports on Wednesday and said ships from the impoverished nation were prohibited from entering Japanese ports and North Korean nationals were prohibited from entering the country.
