Ringing the bells up at South Harting - which has quite a long unguided draft. A long draft is challenging because losing control of the rope is very easily done (with several hundred weight of bell on the other end). 'In peal' means raising the bells in rounds (123456) rather than randomly or singly. The bell 'leading up' (the treble) especially requires expert control.Leading up is a skill that many ringers never master (including me..). Leading up like this on a long draft is especially difficult, though experienced ringers make it look very easy.
