Orkney has lead the way in renewable energy innovation since the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) took up residence there in 2003. Though the islands may be geographically small, they provide ideal conditions for the advancement of techniques to harness energy from a number of renewable sources, including wave, tidal and solar. We are proud that our homeland is proving such an important hub for these developments, and felt we would like to base our 3rd studio album around this theme. These are our Energy Islands, and we hope you'll enjoy the music that we've created to reflect them!
In this episode, we tell you a little bit about our fourth and final song on the album. ‘Northerner’ was a poem written by Orcadian poet and filmmaker, Margaret Tait. We absolutely loved her words and decided to put them to music.. We hope you enjoy the result!
A huge thank you to our videographer Graham MacIver at Studio 27 for the amazing job he’s done showcasing Orkney and the north west Highlands in this series.
Enjoy Episode 10!
