Today, I want to talk about the upcoming battle rating changes for the Focke-Wulf 190 A4 and Focke-Wulf 190 A5/U2.
Let’s talk about it Youtube.
Both models are currently at a battle rating of 4.3 and in the upcoming update, they will be lowered to 4.0 in realistic battles. They are the first Focke-Wulf 190 models to be at Rank III.
If you're familiar with these planes, you know that they fly like a typical Focke-Wulf 190. They have great diving capabilities, carry a lot of cannons, and have good nose authority. They also roll very well and have a tanky airframe. However, they do have the typical mediocre climb and turn, especially if you don't use your flaps.
So how will the BR changes affect the Focke-Wulf 190 A4 and A5/U2?
On the plus side, they will now face 33 additional 3.0 battle rating fighters and strikers/interceptors. They will no longer face 15 fighters and strikers of BR 5.3, which includes a lot of Japanese fighters. This means more and quicker games where the chance of facing up-tiered opponents is higher.
On the downside, lower BR planes typically have better turn rate at the cost of speed. So, you'll have to be careful when trying to turn fight against planes like the Spitfire Mark I or Mark II, or a low tier Italian 202 or R e 2001.
Germany doesn’t really have a 4.0 lineup so moving it down doesn’t really help the German teams for Ground RB. Technically you could build a lineup with the premium German Churchill and the 4.0 Stug III G, and Flak truck but you’re better off going to 4.3 where you can add the premium Brummbar, premium T-34, and the Tech Tree Jagdpanzer IV, Hetzer, and Sturer Emil. Really though 3.7 is the sweet spot for Germany around this BR, at least in my opinion.
The U2 variant is the only variant that is able to carry ground ordnance. Either a couple rockets or a 500kg bomb, which to be fair is a nice bomb. There are just lots of planes in the same BR range that carry much nicer ground ordnance options. Bf 110s, Stukas, Me 410s, Hs 129, and front-line bombers might be better choices for ground attack in your lineup.
In conclusion, these changes are probably only a small net positive for these Focke-Wulf 190s, mainly in the form of the variety of opponents faced and the chance for a downtier. The 3.0-5.0 BR range is the most popular range next to top tier, so it really shouldn't make that much of a difference in the matchmaker.
Thanks for watching, and I'll see you in the next video.
