An idyllic vision of removing the concrete from 51 miles of the L.A. River is problematic from scientific and social perspectives, according to the engineers and architects tasked with bringing the vision to fruition with Frank Gehry. To restore the river to a more natural state, while still mitigating dangerous flood conditions, would mean displacing millions of people along the way. Jessica M.
