My brother and I hiked out to Weaver's Needle to possibly try to climb it, but at least explore and see what we would be up against. He looked pretty comfortable on the down climb of the first section and possibly could've free climbed it. I wasn't in the right frame of mind to attempt it, but it was still a great hike with awesome views. And that's what this hike was about - simply enjoying the views in the Superstition Mountains. We will hopefully try to summit Weaver's Needle in the future, and at least have an anchor system and a long enough rope with us in case we need them for the descent. We had two 100 foot ropes with us, as well as some paracord and another 50 foot rope.
