So, you're getting interviewed by the cops and you decide to remain silent until your attorney is there. They say your silence will be held against you... What should you do?
As a lawyer, here's my advice: Say, "I am invoking my 5th amendment right to remain silent and I will not answer any more of your questions until my lawyer gets here." DON'T just sit there quietly and ignore them. Keep repeating that sentence until your lawyer arrives to the police station and defer to them whether or not to speak.
