A doctor's spouse called to tell me that her husband was expecting to self-surrender after he was sentenced to federal prison. Instead, shortly before the sentencing ended the Judge called in the United States Marshalls. That was not good news. Just after this doctor was sentenced to 51 months in federal prison, he was remanded to custody.
Never presume you will be able to self-surrender. Get the work done in advance of sentencing.
