Hundreds of local people raced to Swedish Medical Center and the University of Washington in the middle of the night to get a COVID shot after a vaccine emergency caused by a freezer failure at a local community hospital. About 1,600 doses of the Moderna vaccine were given out that otherwise would have gone to waste when the refrigeration unit failed, officials said.
More QFC grocery store pharmacies are now offering vaccinations to eligible Washington state residents. On Wednesday, 28 locations began helping out in the effort. Last week, there were four locations. Each location had 100 vaccine doses to administer, according to a QFC spokeswoman.
