This recording stems from a rehearsel for a joint recital in San Diego in september 23, 1975. Huguette made a cassette recording probably for study
purposes, she gave it to me to make a copy. So thanks to her, here it is for everybody, who wants to enjoy it. The recording is rather dry and the piano....not the best instrument. Anyway there is lots to devour !
Joan Suherland sang this famous role for the first time at La Scala in 1962 partnered by Giulietta Simionato, after that together with Marilyn Horne and some others. Huguette sang this trouserrole with the Vancouver opera together wiith M.Cariaga. Decca recorded this opera in the sixties with Joan Sutherland and Marilyn Horne.
It has always been one of my favorites .
