“Everything earned, nothing given” encapsulates the overall feel of this race. It is tough! This year added gale winds to the mix. But you were rewarded with the most beautiful sights. We were fortunate to have great race weather. The day before was foggy and day after rainy.
There were few spectators because US-1 is closed to public with few communities surrounding the course. But the course was well-supported with committed, enthusiastic young volunteers. As the course got tougher, I started talking to myself. Giving myself subtle encouragement. Laughing at the challenges ahead. I made some friends long the way.
My goal was not PR. Getting to this starting line in shape was the goal and I accomplished that. I ran proud.
This race brought out all the feels. It is a must run if you are a marathoner.
