A little something I've cooked up on iRacing using my old designs - it's the ARCA Super Sim Series, or ASSS for short. 20+ real world cars from the end of the steel bodied/Gen-4 era, with AI drivers.
Now...the problem is that the AI in iRacing, at least for this series, sort of stinks. You can enter your own attributes in for each car, but they typically don't stray beyond their ratings, there's no random generations. A driver with an 82 rating never passes the driver with the 80. There's hardly any passing, action, contact, or anything at all happening between the AI drivers. Then...what would happen if you gave all of the cars the exact same attributes? Well, at most tracks, they'll line up nose-to-tail and drive in a super train the entire race.
...Unless it's a superspeedway. An identical field of AI cars really loves to start racing like crazy, going four wide, banging into each other, drafting, doing all of the good car things.
For now, as long as the AI is limited, this isn't an actual series, just occasional races that I'll host. We've had some success so far, an AI field going up against a dozen or so real racers, even some real ARCA drivers at times. Keep an eye out on Twitter, I'll announce beforehand if I'm going to be creating an ASSS session.
