The Smoke + Bitters is an incredible Funky Tequila and Mezcal cocktail. It combines Blanco Tequila, Mezcal, Cynar, and Fernet Branca, a wild collection of ingredients but the end result is undeniable.

Cocktails with mezcal end up being a bit harsh but this one is elevated by the smoky characteristics of the Mezcal when paired with the bitter and minty flavors from the Cynar and Fernet, while the Tequila provides a majority of the body.

The Smoke + Bitters was created at one of my favorite bars in the world, the Hunt + Alpine Club in Portland, ME. They were trandsetters in Portland and one of the first Cocktail bars to open in the city, which is now known the country over for their culinary and beverage scene.

0.5 oz Mezcal

Garnish with a grapefruit peel
