New clashes in the Alemao complex of favelas in Rio de Janeiro erupted on Tuesday night between police and suspected drug-traffickers. At least one person is reported to be killed and another injured during a shot-out.

Local television showed dozens of armed police in the favela complex with residents running to safety as gun-shots rang out across the neighbourhood. It's the latest violence to hit Rio's favelas in the weeks leading up to the start of the World Cup, being hosted by contry.
