ABOUT THE TRAIL
The GAP (Great Alleghany Passage) is a 150 mile rail trail that runs from downtown Pittsburgh to the visitor center in Cumberland, Maryland. The C&O (Chesapeake and Ohio) trail is a 184.5 mile towpath that connects up the GAP trail at Cumberland and takes you all the way to Georgetown in Washington DC. This collection of trails crosses no cars and and I would consider the holy grail of rail trails.
