When a player reaches 2600+ Elo in chess, one of the most important skills they have learnt is the ability to smoothly convert winning positions. GM S.P. Sethuraman (2619) had a winning position against GM Saptarshi Roy. But it was only an extra pawn. Sethuraman showed his class, blocked his opponent's extra pawn with his knight and then used his queenside majority to create a passed pawn. An excellent showcase of conversion technique.
This game was played in the 6th round of the Delhi GM International 2022 between Sethuraman and Saptarshi Roy. Check out the video along with commentary by Sagar Shah. With this win Sethuraman moves to 5.0/6.
