This webinar increases awareness and understanding of the health-care needs of children and youth in foster care, the medical services available to them, and the health services available for children who return home and youth who age out of care. Because many children and youth in foster care are not receiving the health screening benefits available to them through Medicaid, this webinar focuses on the collaboration between child welfare systems and Medicaid, and on how child welfare agencies and courts can work together to improve medical outcomes for children in foster care.
Presenters include Moira Szilagyi, professor of pediatrics at the University of California at Los Angeles; Paula Kienberger Juades, medical director of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services; Brian Goodwin, associate deputy chief of Permanency Practice and Interstate Compact; and Eva Klain, director of Child & Adolescent Health, American Bar Association Center on Children and the Law.
