It baptism just an intellectual acknowledgment of what God has done in Jesus on the cross? No. Baptism is so much more.
Baptism is an internalized heart/mind/soul/body evidence of God's saving work on one's life. True heart-felt repentance (not just earthly sorrow) towards God concerning our sin is a necessary step, a prerequisite, for baptism. Baptism is the first step of obedience to God following His salvation.
Baptism was always connected with REPENTANCE AND BELIEF
(Acts 2:37-41) v.38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
