The old adage “When one door closes, another one opens” resonates with British singer Tom Grennan. As a teen, his future plans were set: become a footballer. He worked his way through some pro clubs’ academies, including Aston Villa. His athletic talent only took him so far, however, and when a night spent lamenting his failures at the pub led to some singin’ at the open mic, well, that’s when another door opened. Half a decade later, Grennan has scored some serious wins the music field. His first efforts, including 2018’s ‘Lighting Matches,’ netted serious love from fans and critics alike, one early champion being Sir Elton John. And if you watch Charli XCX’s “Boys” vid closely, you’ll catch Tom among an array of star cameos. Now, Grennan's back with ‘Evering Road,’ his unapologetically earnest sophomore LP. He hit our London studio for performances of “Make My Mind Up” and “Little Bit Of Love,” and they're great. Honestly, we’re happy he wasn’t TOO good at kicking that ball.
