COVINGTON, Ky. (WKRC) - The former finance director of the Northern Kentucky Convention and Visitors Bureau appeared before a judge Monday on embezzlement charges.
Bridget Johnson is accused of creating fake invoices on behalf of several bogus vendors. Investigators said she then paid more than $3 million to these vendors from three different accounts over the course of 16 months.
Then, they say, she tried to cover up her actions. The bank alerted the CVB about the suspicious transfers in September.
Johnson was fired Oct. 3.
