Montgomery College will recognize the class of 2018 in commencement ceremonies Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10 a.m. on the Rockville Campus. Graduates from the College’s three campuses in Montgomery County, Md., Germantown, Rockville and Takoma Park/Silver Spring, along with apprenticeship graduates in the Workforce Development and Continuing Education programs, will be honored. Delivering the commencement address will be Imam Yahya Hendi, Muslim chaplain at Georgetown University. Of the almost 3,000 candidates for graduation, one first began taking credit courses at Montgomery College in 1964, over 70 percent of the candidates are nonwhite, and over 54 percent of 2018 candidates for graduation are female. In addition, the Board of Trustees will pay tribute to community leaders and College benefactors. Honorary degrees will be presented to Dr. Kazem K. Kazempour, president and CEO of Amarex Clinical Research; Mr. Diego Uriburu, co-founder and executive director of Identity, Inc.; Ms. Erica L. Webber, ADPA®, senior vice president and senior trust officer at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management.
