Cervical decompression is a surgical procedure to decompress levels in the cervical spine. The total recovery time is 2 to 3 months.
A neck brace may be required for the first few weeks, your surgeon to inform you about this. Walking is recommended to promote blood flow of oxygen. A liquid diet is recommended for the initial days and then can shift to regular meals.
Avoid continuous long plane flights or car rides. While traveling, stand and walk around once an hour or so. Driving is not allowed for at least 3 weeks.
You can return to work after 5 to 6 weeks if the job isn't too strenuous. The strenuous job can be resumed after 12 weeks.
