"We are running our election to form the slate of Likud towards this coming election. And as of tomorrow we will start a campaign against the present government in order to replace it and bring a new and better government to the state of Israel."

STORYLINE:
Three Likud ministers resigned from the Cabinet of Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Thursday, Israeli radio stations reported, even though there was some confusion over whether the resignation letters were just handed to Likud leader, Benjamin Netanyahu and not to Olmert.
A fourth minister, Silvan Shalom, did not immediately resign but was expected to do so at a Cabinet meeting on Sunday.
Sharon's successor as Likud leader, ex-premier Benjamin Netanyahu, ordered his party's Cabinet ministers to quit on Thursday to coincide with the party's primary.
Netanyahu had previously pledged to pull Likud out of the government, but suspended the plan after Sharon's stroke last week.
Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is expected to nominate new ministers from his Kadima Party in the coming days.
Israeli media has said that elder statesman Shimon Peres will be named foreign minister in the interim period
The crisis in the Likud unfolded as his Central Committee members began arriving to choose a list of candidates for the March 28 elections.
Benjamin Netanyahu was among the first to arrive to vote in Tel Aviv.
Polls show Likud have lost more than half its support Sharon's departure and that Sharon's new party, Kadima, maintains a huge lead despite, or perhaps because of, his illness.
