Council workers in Bristol on Thursday removed a statue of a Black Lives Matter protester which had been placed on the plinth previously occupied by a statue of slave trader Edward Colston in Bristol.
The resin figure of Jen Reid with her fist raised in the air was erected early on Wednesday in a stealthy operation.
The sculpture of Reid, who was photographed standing on the plinth of Colston's statue just after it was pulled down by demonstrators last month, was put up by a team directed by artist Marc Quinn.
Contractors removed the sculpture of Reid and took it away by lorry in the early hours. Bristol City Council said it would be stored until Quinn collected it.
