Doing 1 hand (1H) macework is always challenging and fun but adding in a hand change to the 10-2 is a game changer. This is one of the event exercises in mace competitions and if you want to be a good mace sport athlete, you'll need good form to compete in Biathlon.

Begin with the 360 before you progress to the 10 - 2. Start your swing as a normal 2H 360 from the center ready position, referred to as the 'catch' in mace sport. During the ascent over the shoulder, remove the opposite hand, and perform the rear pendulum one handed, and place hand back on to the mace where it was previously while pulling down into the catch. Do not be concerned with the hand slide as shown in the video, yet. Continue the same direction for a few reps to get the feel of it. When you're feeling confident, begin the opposite direction, this time removing the other hand. When you can get a few 360s comfortably in BOTH directions, attempt the 1H 10-2. Practice those until you find your catch - it'll be a little different than the 2H version. When you've got that, it's time to learn the hand slide.

The hand slide is done on the ascent, and uses the mace's upward inertia to pull the handle through the hand until you stop at the pommel. It is simply a loosening of the grip to allow the mace to slide. Be careful with this as you may lose your grip. Keep in mind you're now going over the top of each hand instead of trying to remember to go to top or bottom to reposition the free hand. Think one potato, two potato. This tactic keeps hand placement uniform and the athlete to not have to think about hand placement during a competition - it's always over the top.
