Quite often in sprinters we see excessive internal rotation of the hip (knee moving inward) and external rotation of the lower leg in the swing phase of running. You can really see this when you video the runner and slow it down. This can become a habit that starts off from weakness in the hip external rotators and if not addressed can lead to injuries of the knee, shin and foot. It also costs the runner in speed and power.
We also see hip flexor and hamstring weakness affecting movement pattening in the swing phase where the knee does not come high enough into flexion and the heel does not come high enough up to the hip (knee flexion). You may see if you have a child who is a runner or sprinter, or even see this in yourself.
