PEUGEOT has unveiled an updated version of its popular 208 model, along with its fully electric variant, the E-208. These updates encompass a new design, upgraded powertrains, and state-of-the-art technologies. The 208 was Europe’s best-selling car in 2022, a testament to its massive popularity. The updates are expected to cement its place in consumer preferences. The new 208 and E-208 will be available for orders starting October 2023.
A major highlight of the new PEUGEOT 208 is its irresistible sporty look featuring a modern light signature, originally introduced in the 9X8 Hypercar. The front has been redesigned with a new grille and the brand’s logo. The rear also features an updated light signature. Moreover, the new models will be available in striking new colors and elegant fabrics. The E-208 showcases a redesigned ‘E’ badge and has adopted the new PEUGEOT brand identity. The sporty aesthetics are complemented by new alloy wheel designs inspired by the PEUGEOT 408.
The interior of the new 208 boasts the advanced PEUGEOT i-Cockpit®, aimed at enhancing driving pleasure. This feature includes a digital instrument panel, the i-Connect system, a large 10-inch touchscreen, a compact steering wheel with integrated controls, dynamic ambient lighting (available in GT versions), and a revised gear shifter design. The i-Cockpit® has been optimized for an ergonomic and connected driving experience.
In the department of performance, the new E-208 offers more excellence with improved electric range, boasting a 115kW electric motor and a 51kWh battery that allows for up to 248 miles between charges. The new model also offers quick charging capabilities. Additionally, the PEUGEOT 208 introduces hybrid powertrains for the first time, with two new 48V Hybrid options that combine petrol engines with an electric motor, providing added torque and lower fuel consumption. Traditional petrol engines remain an option, retaining their efficiency.
Lastly, the new 208 and E-208 models come equipped with added technologies that enhance the value and convenience for the driver. For instance, they include more USB sockets, making it easier to charge multiple devices. The incorporation of these additional features, combined with the car's new design and performance improvements, underscores PEUGEOT's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction. The new updates are expected to keep the 208 and E-208 at the forefront of the competitive automotive market.
