The Volkswagen Kübelwagen (short for Kübelsitzwagen, meaning "bucket seat car") was the German equivalent of the U.S. jeep. The Kübelwagen military vehicle was designed by Ferdinand Porsche. It was by Volkswagen during WWII for all branches of the German military. Based on the Volkswagen Beetle, the Kübelwagen was known as the Type 82. The Kübelwagen chassis and powertrain were built at Stadt des KdF-Wagens, (renamed Wolfsburg after WW2), and its body built by Ambi Budd Presswerke in Berlin.
