This is my fluval stratum review. This stuff is working amazing! Research how much you need for your tank.

More topics: For the above reasons plus that it prevents PH crash (old tank syndrome) and TDS shock if you move the tank or have an emergency leak or something where the water needs to be replaced. If you have fish in your tank and don't do regular water changes, even small or infrequent ones, you're an irresponsible fish-keeper IMO.
Yep, me as well. Before I knew better. I lost 4 of my favorite fish, so I'll never make that mistake again. We can always learn something new in this hobby! There's a really great article that explains it in depth if you google search for "Old tank syndrome". Really helpful they way they break it down so you can understand how to avoid it. [ Ссылка ]
Been in this Hobby for years years years never did a water Chang never had a problem evaporation add water y Chang 30 % just let evaporation and add. I siphon 5-10gals in a water cooler jug in my overstocked tank everyweek. The amount of shit that comes out is insane my plants love it.
Another question here (not doing this currently don’t chastise me)
I want to run racks of 6 10 gallons all connected. I wanted to have an above-tank sump with a de-nitrification area full of plants. I’m going to keep adding plants until my nitrates stay at zero. With that being said could I get away with once monthly water changes, while doing small 5-10% changes randomly to encourage breeding if it is not occurring already? [ Ссылка ]
I don't know, how about not turning your tank into an acidic cesspool, or keeping your algae from getting to be a massive problem. If you haven't done a water change in ages, you may want to do only small wc's (say 10~20%) every other day for a couple of weeks. Then at least weekly from then. If you do a large water change straight up your fish may go into shock from the sudden change. Read up on (or watch videos) about "old tank syndrome " to get a better understanding.
Read up on ( or watch videos) about "Old Tank Syndrome " . This would probably be your biggest concern even though everything may "appear" good! How do I do a fish in cycle? Was just gifted 2 more bettas. All I have is a 10 gallon tank with a divider *surprise* and no filter (they kept it for another fish tank).
shifting the plants over can help kickstart a bit! Also if you're using the same size filter medium in both tanks, you can switch the used filter into the new tank to get the good bacteria going too. These are both if you already have established betta tanks though.
also I use tetra whisper filters for my tanks, and they work just fine for bettas! I couldn't figure out how sponge filters worked so I've been using the tetras for about two years and I've had no problems with my fish!
Fish in cycle- set up tank, add fish, test water every couple days, when levels of ammonia/nitrites start to get too high (above .25 ppm ) do a small water change. Keep testing until you hit zero ammonia and nitrites with only a low nitrate reading. It’s basically the same as a fishless just in this case your fish is the ammonia source. Key with fish in is more testing/ water changes so your fish can comfortably get through the cycle.
