Authors can refer to a given disease, condition, or medical concept in multiple ways. To make it easier to find every article on a topic without having to think of every possible term an author could have used, it is best to include subject headings in your search. In PubMed, these headings are called MeSH terms, and subject experts at the National Library of Medicine have added them to every citation in the MEDLINE database.
