I was a regular smoker but stopped 5 years ago. Do I still need annual lung scans?
Nena Hoffman, Nurse, Nodule Clinic Coordinator
Lung cancer screening uses a low-dose computed tomography (CT) scan to detect lung cancer when the disease is in its earliest stages and most likely to respond to treatment. The test is recommended for older adults who meet certain criteria and are not experiencing any lung cancer symptoms.
The Department of Radiology at Penn State Health is an American College of Radiology-designated lung cancer screening clinic. Screening requires an order from your doctor. We also offer smoking cessation advice and management services at Penn State Health.
