On the 17th of September, eight African Cheetahs were reintroduced in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park. If the re-introduction of cheetahs into the wild is successful, it would mark the culmination of a decades-long process.
Cheetahs were declared completely extinct in India in 1952, mainly due to their use for coursing, sport hunting, over-hunting and habitat loss. The animal was frequently used by Indian nobility for sport-hunting.
