(27 May 2017) Venezuelan national police officers met protesters with tear gas on Saturday and used water cannons to disperse them as they arrived on the Francisco Fajardo highway - a scene that has been seen daily since the protests began.
A few trucks were set on fire across the highway as protesters ambled about picking up tear gas canisters and hurling them back at police.
At least 55 people have been killed, over 1,000 have been injured; 2,700 arrested and at least 350 shops have been looted since the anti-government protests to oust President Nicolas Maduro began nearly seven weeks ago.
