He's been hearing it for a decade, and he just heard it again from Sir Lucian Grainge, the chairman of Universal Music Group – the major labels think independent music is inferior and is just clogging up music streaming sites and leading to a poor fan experience.
Why did this topic just surface again? Because of a recent announcement that there are now 100 million tracks on the streaming platforms (wow!). And because 100 thousand new tracks are being added every day (WOW!)
So in today’s Indie Music Minute, Tony has some choice words for Sir Lucian and the rest of the so-called “music industry.” He also debunks their selfish argument that all this content is both inferior and leads to a poor fan experience.
