The project is both a humanitarian and development initiative, where it aims at reviving agricultural livelihoods and creating employment. It builds the capacities of Green Plan (a subsidiary of the Ministry of Agriculture) and supports mare than 1 200 small-scale Lebanese farmers through investment in agricultural infrastructure (land reclamation, water reservoirs, and other complementary works) while creating more than 105 000 person-days of temporary livelihood opportunities for displaced Syrians and unskilled Lebanese workers from host communities. Furthermore, the project creates from 75 000 person-days in the short term to 175 000 in the long term of sustainable seasonal work opportunities. In addition, the project adopted and developed the Farm Business Schools (FBS) to support farmers in improving their business decisions and increase their farm profitability.
