It's a type of inflammatory bowel disease triggered due to high pitta imbalance or high fire element in the intestines. Symptoms include abdomen pain, diarrhoea, blood in stools, loss of appetite, malnutrition, loss of weight and fatigue.
You need to remember that your body and your gut especially is extremely sensitive to inflammatory foods. You need to cut away all irritants that are inflammatory in nature including red meat, sea food, eggs, dairy products, deep fried foods, pungent and spicy foods like capsicum, onion, garlic radish and chillies.
Instead load up on the cooling foods like melons, astringent fruits like apple, berries ans cherries. You can also soak 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds overnight and next morning drink the water with seeds empty stomach. Chew on the seeds, it has a cooling effect on your intestines.
You can also soak 1 tsp sweet Basil seeds (sabia) overnight or in 1 bottle of water. It swells up and has a gel like outer layer. Sip this through the day or drink it in the mornings empty stomach. It has a cooling effect on the gut and reduces inflammation.
Load up on freshly sourced tender coconut water with the soft coconut meat.
Post meals, after half hour you can have an astringent fruit like banana or pomegranate which helps in binding the stools together and prevents diarrhoea symptoms. There are the only two Fruits after meal, permitted only for those suffering with these symptoms. Otherwise keep an hours gap between your meals and fruits.
